Safe Kids Worldwide wants to reassure parents and caregivers that car seats are safe and effective when used according to manufacturers’ instructions. Every car seat on the market in the United States has passed the same rigorous crash tests required by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Parents should not fear for their children’s safety in cars in response to a recent Consumers Union report raising questions about the performance of infant car seats.

Ohio drivers will now see three smiling faces greeting them from the road courtesy of the new Celebrate Kids Ohio license plate. Today, the Ohio Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardian ad Litem (CASA/GAL) Association introduced their new specialty license plate. Like the previous design, this new plate funds programs that help protect abused and neglected children in the court system.

On Jan. 1, 2007, a $1 toll increase will go into effect on the Bay Area’s seven state-owned toll bridges. Tolls on the affected bridges — Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael, San Francisco-Oakland Bay and San Mateo-Hayward — will rise to $4 from the current $3 level. However, rivers of cars and other two-axle vehicles who pay their tolls electronically with a FasTrak(R) toll tag will receive a $1 discount off the new toll throughout the month of January 2007.
